Recently, the commissioning ceremony of the Dading Kawa 40MW hydropower station undertaken by POWERCHINA was held. Suleiman said in his speech that the Dadinkawa Hydropower Station is the first hydropower project developed in Nigeria in the BOT mode, and it is also the fifth largest hydropower station in Nigeria. The successful commissioning of the power station will provide a stable power supply for the northeastern region of Nigeria. . He highly praised POWERCHINA's performance capability and technical level, and was very satisfied with the construction, operation and maintenance of the power station.

Muhammad pointed out that the Dadinkawa Hydropower Station has made great contributions to promoting regional economic growth and social progress since it was put into construction. He thanked POWERCHINA for creating a large number of employment opportunities during the construction and operation of the hydropower station and increasing the local employment rate. and personnel professional skills.

Project Overview

Dadinkawa Hydropower Station is located in the Gongola River Basin, Gombe State, Nigeria, with a total installed capacity of 2*20MW. In July 2005, Asamoto obtained the 25-year franchise of the power station from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, and signed the EPC contract and 10-year operation and maintenance service contract with POWERCHINA in September 2013 and May 2016. On December 31, 2019, the two units of the power station were successfully connected to the grid for power generation, and the owner issued the project handover certificate on January 7, 2020. As of the end of April 2023, the cumulative power generation of the two units is about 400 million kWh, and the annual utilization hours are as high as 5,800 hours, with outstanding economic benefits.

This project has been praised by the local government and the media many times, and also won the third prize of the 6th Power Survey and Design Industry Excellent Engineering Project Management and Excellent General Contracting Award organized by the China Electric Power Planning Association and the second prize of the 2020 Hydropower Industry Excellent Engineering Design Award .
