Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd has initiated a request for proposal to allocate a site in Madhya Pradesh, India to develop a total of 13.8GW of pumped storage energy. The quotation includes 12 stations with capacities ranging from 600 megawatts to 2 gigawatts.
According to the bidding documents, bidders must have executed, operated, or are currently operating a power generation project with a capacity equivalent to 25% of the total estimated potential of the location or 500 megawatts over the past 10 years. This capability requirement applies to individual bidders or major bidders in a consortium.
Madhya Pradesh has enormous potential for pumped storage projects, and the Central Electricity Authority of India estimates the total potential for radial storage in the state to be 11.2GW. The state also has enormous potential beyond the river.
In order to unleash the enormous potential of pumped storage, the Madhya Pradesh government recently launched the Madhya Pradesh Pumped Storage Project Implementation Plan. As part of this plan, RUMSL is overseeing the bidding process for the 13.8 GW PHS project.Editor/XingWentao
