On May 28, 2023, with the successful completion of the Tangdiling Tunnel, it means that all 34 tunnels on the Chihuang High-speed Railway have been completed.

Tangdiling Tunnel of Chihuang High-speed Railway crosses Huangshan District and Yi County of Huangshan City. The entrance is located in Jiaocun Town, Huangshan District. About 780 meters deep, it is a single-hole and double-lane tunnel.

According to Zhao Yanan, the chief engineer of the first four bids for the Jianchihuang Railway Station on Zhongjiao Road, the geological conditions along the Tangdiling Tunnel are complex, crossing 1 fault zone, 4 rock vein intrusions, and 6 lithological contact zones. The construction is difficult and safe. The risk is high, and it is one of the important control projects and one of the most difficult projects in the construction period of the Chihuang Railway.

The Chihuang high-speed railway is an important part of the Wuhan-Hangzhou high-speed railway channel. The line starts from Chizhou Station, ends at Yixian East Station and merges with Changjing-Huangzhou High-speed Railway under construction to Huangshan North Station. The new main line is about 125 kilometers long. The design speed is 350 kilometers per hour. There are 34 tunnels on the whole line, accounting for 60.8% of the total. The total investment is 18.37 billion yuan. The whole line has 5 stations including Chizhou, Jiuhuashan, Huangshan West, Yixian East, and Huangshan North.

The Chihuang high-speed railway is planned to be completed in 2024. After operation, it will become a golden tourist route linking core scenic spots such as Jiuhua Mountain, Huangshan Mountain and Taiping Lake in southern Anhui. Editor / Xie Li
