European Energy has received permission to build a 250MW solar park in the Italian city of Vizzini near Catania, Sicily. Claimed to be the largest solar farm in the country, the project will have the capacity to provide green electricity to 130,000 homes.
Knud Erik Andersen, CEO of European Energy, said that Italy is an important country and market for European Energy, and the approval of this project is an important milestone for our company.
We have repeatedly demonstrated our ability to launch large-scale renewable energy projects in Italy, and we look forward to delivering another important solar farm to the benefit of the Italian community.
European Energy said that in addition to fossil-free power generation, the solar project also focused on the sustainability of the land used. The project also includes an integrated reforestation and biodiversity plan covering 200 hectares of land, the company noted. Currently, various solutions are being evaluated for the project, such as conventional photovoltaic systems, solar tracking panels to increase energy production, and agricultural photovoltaic systems that integrate electricity production with crop cultivation.
European Energy Italia Country Manager Alessandro Migliorini said that with this authorization we have taken another step forward in our strategic path in Italy, where we will continue to invest in renewable energy projects, mainly wind and solar, always in line with the recovery plan Link the cultural fabric or the development of the natural heritage of the areas we build. The license reinforces the European energy company's commitment to Italy's green energy transition.Editor/XingWentao
