Zonglu Hydropower Station Generating Units Successfully

A few days ago, under the witness of Nigerian Ministry of Electricity officials, engineers, power transmission company TCN and the franchisee of the power station, the Zongru Hydropower Station, which was provided with preferential loans by the Export-Import Bank of China, successfully connected all four units to the grid at full load and 25% Load shedding debugging. After commissioning, the generating set exceeds 700MW at full load, and the continuous full-load power generation is running well.

During the joint debugging and joint test, the equipment system of the unit has always maintained a stable operation, and all test items have passed at one time. The success of the unit commissioning of the Zongglu Hydropower Station has well demonstrated the reliability and safety of the quality of the construction projects undertaken by PowerChina. The joint commissioning of the four generating units and the success of full-load grid-connected power generation indicate that the project has entered the stage of completion and handover in an all-round way.

The Zongru Hydropower Station is located on the Kaduna River in Zongru Town, Niger State, Nigeria. There are 4 vertical shaft Francis turbine generators with a rated capacity of 175 MW and a total installed capacity of 700 MW. It is the largest hydropower station under construction in Nigeria. It is an important project in the African region of the Belt and Road Initiative, and it is also the largest power station financing project in Nigeria using the "Two Excellent Loans" of the Export-Import Bank of China. The project is jointly undertaken by China National Electric Engineering Corporation and China Power Construction.
