PowerChina has signed a contract for Tanzania Nishinianga PV project

On May 29, 2023, PowerChina and Tanzania's national power company TANESCO officially signed the EPC contract for the Shinanga PV project. Tanzania's Minister of Energy January Makamba, Deputy Minister of Energy Stephen Byabato, Maharage Chande, Chairman of the Tanzania National Power Corporation, attended the signing ceremony. The project is currently the largest photovoltaic project by unit capacity in Tanzania, which is a milestone in promoting the diversification of Tanzania's electricity structure and promoting the development of the local clean energy industry.

The Shinianga Photovoltaic Project is located in Shinianga City, Shinianga Province, Tanzania, with a total installed capacity of 50MW. Construction contents include: project survey and design, equipment procurement and transportation, photovoltaic field area, 220kV booster station and delivery line of civil construction and installation. After the project is put into operation, the electricity energy will be connected to the local power grid, which can effectively alleviate the power shortage in the northwest region of Tanzania, improve the electricity consumption and living quality of residents, and promote the local economic development.

The Hinanga PV project is PowerChina's second PV project in Tasania and the largest PV project in the region. PowerChina will give full play to its strengths and continue to contribute to Tanzania's energy transformation and dual-carbon goals, contribute to local infrastructure construction and economic and social development, and write a new chapter for China-Tanzania friendship.

PowerChina signed the Maretti PV project in Brazil

Recently, PowerChina South-Central Research Institute, PowerChina Brazil Branch and Sinohydro International Engineering Co., Ltd. signed an internal commission implementation agreement for the Maretti Photovoltaic project in Brazil.

The Maret PV project is the first power project that PowerChina International has invested in and the first project that has been implemented with DOBT innovation model. Upon completion, this project will be the group's largest overseas PV investment project, which will be of strategic importance to PowerChina in the field of global new energy investment, as well as the development of the new energy market in Brazil.

The Brazilian Maretti Photovoltaic power Project is located 2 km northwest of the city of Maretti, Ceara Province, northern Brazil. The project covers an area of 15.9 square kilometers and is divided into three adjacent sites. The installed capacity of the project is 344MWac, including a new 230 kV booster station and 14 kilometers of 230 kV lines. The construction period of the project is 18 months. The project officially started on March 30 and is expected to be connected to the grid for commercial power generation on September 30, 2024.Editor/Ma Xue
