It is understood that the Shanghai Jia Expressway and the Jiamin Elevated Road are important north-south channels in Jiading, and the connection of these two parallel expressways has always been a hot topic of attention. At present, the new construction project of the Shanghai Jia Expressway Jiamin Elevated Link Line has started pile foundation construction, which also marks the substantive start of the construction of a convenient passage connecting these two urban expressways. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.

On the morning of May 31, 2023, at the intersection of Zhennan Road on the Huyi Highway and the east side of Jiamin Elevated Road, construction workers were driving steel pipe piles used for the foundation of the bearing platform underground. It is reported that the Hujia Jiamin connecting line project starts from the Jiamin Elevated Line in the west and ends at the S5 Hujia Expressway in the east. It will cross Deyuan Road and Guyiyuan Road in an elevated form. The main elevated line of the connecting line is about 1 kilometer long, with a planned red line width of 45-53 meters and a two-way 6-lane road.

Two Y-shaped interchanges are set up throughout the project, namely Jiamin Elevated Interchange and S5 Hujia Interchange. Among them, the northern ramp of S5 Hujia Interchange will be connected to the existing S5 Hujia Expressway. A diving platform will be set up on the south side, and in the future, it will be connected in conjunction with the S5 Shanghai Jia Expressway lifting project. At the same time, the project will also set up north-south ramps for the upper and lower S5 Hujia Expressway on both sides of the Chenxiang Highway.

In addition to the elevated road, the project will also simultaneously renovate the ground roads Zhennan Road and Shangren Road with 4-6 lanes. The design speed of elevated connecting lines and ground roads is 60 kilometers per hour, and the design speed of ramps is 40 kilometers per hour.

The project construction is divided into preliminary greening, pipeline relocation, bridge structure construction, and ground road construction. At present, the bridge structure pile foundation construction phase has entered, and the overall project plan is to be completed in September 2025.

After the completion of the project, it will be more conducive to easing the transportation between the Hongqiao International Open Hub Central Business District and the city center, improving the backbone road network in the northwest region, balancing the traffic flow of the road network, achieving more convenient transportation between Jiading New City and the city center, as well as the Hongqiao International Open Hub Central Business District, and better supporting the construction and development of Jiading New City. Editor/Xie Li
