Recently, the 3rd the Belt and Road Energy Partnership Forum hosted by the National Energy Administration was successfully held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. The theme of this forum is to move towards high-quality energy development. During the meeting, Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin Haq received an exclusive interview and talked about the development and prospect of China Pakistan energy cooperation in the past ten years proposed by the the Belt and Road Initiative.

The theme of the the Belt and Road Energy Partnership Forum in 2023 is to move towards high-quality energy development. The the Belt and Road Energy Cooperation Partnership has brought positive impacts to the partner countries.

Moin Huck: It has been four years since the establishment of the the Belt and Road Energy Cooperation Partnership in 2019. We have established a mechanism for international exchange and cooperation. By strengthening energy and infrastructure construction, especially for developing countries, we share interests and achieve win-win cooperation. On the one hand, it is energy security, which is also a common goal for everyone. Especially for developing countries, energy security is more important. Secondly, we are very concerned about the transformation of green energy. Everyone is facing the threat of environmental degradation and climate change, and green energy, clean energy, and low-carbon energy have become particularly important.

In 2022, Pakistan suffered a devastating flood, and China provided significant assistance and strengthened cooperation with Pakistan in areas such as addressing climate change. There are also many hydropower and wind power projects in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project. We also strongly appeal to assist developing countries in this regard, helping them access financing in areas such as climate, new technologies, and green technologies, in order to promote their sustainable development. This is also the importance of international cooperation.

Moin Haq: 2023 is the tenth anniversary of the the Belt and Road Initiative and the launch of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the flagship project of the the Belt and Road Initiative. It is a very important milestone year. Pakistan is one of the earliest supporters and participants of the the Belt and Road Initiative.

Pakistan has faced severe energy shortages in the past few years. With the continuous implementation of energy projects under the framework of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, Pakistan's energy supply has been continuously enriched and its energy demand has been continuously met. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor has driven Pakistan's economic growth and also created many local employment opportunities. Therefore, thank you very much to China.

In the future, green energy will be the focus of development. Most of the new projects currently under construction in Pakistan are focused on clean energy and green alternative energy. The Pakistani government has also announced an initiative to achieve 10000 megawatts of solar energy projects within the next five years. In this context, photovoltaic will be a very important area for Pakistan's future energy development. To this end, the Pakistani government has announced very attractive policies and incentives, and we are also seeking investment, support, and assistance from China and Chinese enterprises.Editor/Ma Xue
