Recently, the Mozambique Nacala medium and low voltage distribution network project undertaken by China Electric Power Construction Corporation has officially obtained the completion certificate and praise letter issued by the owner, marking the formal completion and handover of the project to the owner. The owner congratulated the China Electric Power Construction team on overcoming numerous difficulties and challenges during the epidemic and completing the project construction in a timely and high-quality manner in the praise letter, and highly praised the hard work and outstanding performance of the project team.

Project Overview

The Nakara Medium and Low Voltage Distribution Network Project in Nampula Province, Mozambique is located in Nakara City. The main construction content of the project includes approximately 312 kilometers of 33 kV medium voltage lines, 57 transformers, 3000 street lights, 6000 electricity meters, approximately 180 kilometers of 0.4 kV low voltage lines, 2 outdoor switching stations, and 8 kilometers of buried cables.

This project, as the fifth section of the Mozambique Electricity Efficiency and Reliability Improvement Project, will effectively improve the local electricity supply rate in Nacala after completion. It has undergone deep electrification renovations in five districts of the city, benefiting approximately 100000 communities. To provide stable electricity supply for local residents' work and life, promote local economic development, and further assist Mozambique in achieving the strategic goal of universal access to electricity by 2030.

During the implementation of the project, which coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, the project department overcame many difficulties such as difficulties in personnel and material entry, rising material prices, etc. Through multiple communication and coordination, reasonable allocation of construction resources, strict implementation of construction requirements such as quality, safety, and progress management, the construction task was successfully completed within the contract period, and the performance of the contract was unanimously praised by the owner and supervisor.

At the same time, during the implementation of the project, actively fulfilling social responsibilities, the project department organized donation activities to local police stations, schools, mother and child rescue stations, and other institutions.

This project is a key project of the Mozambican government that benefits people's livelihoods, and it is also the first power transmission and transformation project completed by China Power Construction Corporation in Mozambique. The project has been delivered with high quality on schedule and will greatly improve the stability of the Nacala Special Economic Zone power grid and the reliability of electricity consumption for ordinary residents in the community in the future, laying a solid foundation for China Power Construction to explore the electricity market in Mozambique.Editor/Ma Xue
