Danish cable supplier NKT has announced that it will finalize an order for 230kV AC high-voltage export power cable systems for Poland's 1.2GW Baltic Power offshore wind farm. The €120 million contract will design and produce 130 kilometres of power cables for export at sea.

The Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm is one of the first offshore wind farms in Poland. NKT will produce power cables at its plant in Cologne, Germany, and the entire project is expected to be operational by 2026. The Danish company said the latest order would not affect its financial outlook for 2023.

The formal signing of the contract is expected to take place in June 2023, with final notification to follow. The Baltic Power Offshore Wind farm is being jointly developed by PKN ORLEN and Northland Power.

The two companies signed an agreement in 2021 to jointly build 1.2GW of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. It will provide green electricity to more than 1.5 million Polish homes. In May 2023, NKT was awarded a turnkey contract by Swedish utility company Ellevio to upgrade part of its power grid in the Stadeshagen area of Stockholm, Sweden.Editor/XingWentao
