On June 5, 2023, Honduran President Giomara Castro announced that she would travel to Beijing for an official visit. This is the first visit to China by a Honduran president two months after the establishment of diplomatic ties with China. President Castro said in a post on social media that the reconstruction of Honduras needs to open new horizons in many fields, including politics, science, technology, business and culture. Hong's Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reina will also accompany the visit.

In a recent interview, Rayner talked about the economic and trade exchanges with China, said that it will not only stimulate the country's economic development, improve people's livelihood, and create more development opportunities for the people; Honduras is also looking forward to improving its infrastructure and connecting with the world through the Belt and Road Initiative.
