On the morning of June 7, 2023, the construction ceremony of the highway project from Phnom Penh to Pakuah City in the province of Sah Rieng was held in Kandan Province, Cambodia, attended by nearly 7,000 Cambodian people. The Jinba Expressway is invested and constructed by China Road and Bridge Engineering Co., LTD. The main highway project is 135.1 km long, two-way four lanes, and the design speed is 100 km/h. The construction period of the Gimba Expressway project is four years, and after completion, it will be operated by China Road and Bridge for 50 years before being handed over to Cambodia.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government and Chinese enterprises for their support to Cambodia's highway construction. The Gimba Highway project is the latest achievement of Cambodia-China friendly cooperation, and the successful landing of the project once again proves the huge potential of Cambodia-China cooperation and the friendly friendship between the two countries. After the completion of the Kimba Expressway, it will improve the logistics efficiency from Phnom Penh to Phnom Penh, reduce costs and shorten the traffic time along the route, which will greatly promote the economic development of Cambodia.

Wang Wentian, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, said that the Jimba Expressway will effectively connect Phnom Penh, Kandan, Boromian, Sajrieng and other important towns in the future, and build a golden economic belt between Phnom Penh and Phnom Penh, which will play a pivotal role in promoting Cambodia's national economic development and regional connectivity of ASEAN, and promoting the integration and development of Southeast Asia. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Cambodia and the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. The construction of the Gimba-Cambodia high-speed project is not only a symbol of China-Cambodia friendship and cooperation, but also another important achievement of the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and the four corners strategy of Cambodia.

According to Du Fei, chairman of China Road and Bridge, the Jinba Expressway project is expected to directly employ more than 5,000 local Cambodian employees during the construction period, and create nearly 10,000 local jobs. In addition, the 50-year operation period will provide more than 1,000 jobs per year in Cambodia. The Kimpa Expressway is the second expressway in Cambodia after the Phnom Penh to Siang Expressway, starting from the capital Phnom Penh, passing through the provinces of Kandan and Pao Veng, and ending in the city of Phnom Penh in the province of Sah Rieng on the border of Cambodia and Vietnam.Editor/Ma Xue
