On June 7, 2023, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen attended the commencement ceremony of the Jimba Expressway project from Phnom Penh to Phnom Penh and the two projects of the Mekong River De Ntemak Bridge.
The main length of the Jinba Expressway is 135 kilometers, and the total investment is about 1.4 billion US dollars, with a construction period of 4 years and an operation period of 50 years. The 3.7-kilometer-long Mekong De Ntemark Bridge project is funded by the Cambodian government and implemented by China Road and Bridge.
During the construction period of the Jinba Expressway project, it is expected to directly employ more than 5,000 local employees and create nearly 10,000 local jobs. In addition, the operation period will provide more than 1,000 local jobs per year.
As the second expressway in Cambodia, the Jimba Expressway will open up the expressway from Sihanoukville Port in Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and form an East-West international expressway corridor on the Indo-China Peninsula, which will play an important role in promoting Cambodia's national economic development and ASEAN regional connectivity, as well as promoting the integration and development of Southeast Asia.
