On June 6, 2023, the General Manager Department of Malaysia East Coast Railway Project of China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College signed a cooperation agreement in Liuzhou, Guangxi, to provide technical and talent support for the East Malaysia Railway and help the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Maodong Railway project, a flagship project of the Belt and Road, is being built by China Communications Construction Group Co., LTD. With a total length of 665km, the project will become a transportation artery connecting Malaysia's east and west coasts and is expected to boost Malaysia's GDP by 2.7 percentage points.

Kong Qi, general manager of the Malaysia East Coast Railway Project General manager Department of China Communications Construction Group Co., LTD., said that after the completion of the Malaysia-East Railway, it is necessary to build a set of operation and maintenance management system adapted to the local environment based on China's railway operation experience, combined with Malaysia's national conditions and social and economic conditions.

According to the agreement, the two sides will work together to develop innovative technical standards for the railway, develop the full set of management work plans of the China-Malaysia joint venture Railway Company, train and train employees, etc., so as to provide a safe, advanced, efficient, economical and suitable operation plan for the railway.

In recent years, Liucai Vocational College has connected with the Trans-Asian Railway network, China-Laos Railway, China-Thailand Railway, Malaysia East Coast Railway, etc., and built the China-Asean rail transit technical skills talent training base. It has enrolled 217 students, trained more than 850 talents for ASEAN countries, and exported more than 30 training packages and quality courses.

The cooperation will provide technical and talent support for the construction and development of Malaysia's East Coast Railway, help China's high-speed rail technology go global, and contribute to the Belt and Road Initiative.Editor/Ma Xue
