On June 7, 2023, the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government issued the environmental assessment announcement of the Guanghe high-speed rail Baiyun Airport T3 to Jiangcun West Section. The construction of the project will make Baiyun International Airport closely connected with the downtown area of Guangzhou and the Pearl River Delta hub airport, promote the high-speed integration of Yangjiang, Maoming and Zhanjiang in the west of Guangdong into the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and help Baiyun Airport become a first-class comprehensive transportation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Guanghe high-speed rail Baiyun Airport T3 to Jiangcun west section

The line is located in Baiyun District, Guangzhou, the whole into the northeast, the project starts from the Jiangcun West line, the southern end of the Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed rail link line, Guangzhou-Zhan contact line, the end is located in the east end of Guangzhou Baiyun Airport phase III planning red line, the line length of 15.679 kilometers, of which the Jiangcun West line to the west end of Baiyun Airport phase III planning red line length of 12.563 kilometers. Reserved project (Baiyun Airport Phase III planning red line) Zhongguanghe high-speed rail line length 3.116 km. The whole line consists of 1 Baiyun Airport station and 2 line stations, respectively Jiangcun West Line station and Longxingzhuang Line station. The estimated total investment of the project is 8.364 billion yuan, and the total construction period is 48 months.

The project of Baiyun Airport T3 to Jiangcun West section of Guanghe high-speed Railway is a part of Guanghe high-speed railway. The line grade of the project is passenger dedicated line, the number of normal lines is double, and the speed target value is 160 km/h.

Zhanjiang to Baiyun airport will enter the 3-hour traffic circle

The construction of the project will open a direct docking channel between Baiyun Airport and the Pearl River Delta hub airport. It is reported that the Pearl River Delta hub airport will actively develop domestic and international air passenger and cargo transport, undertake the overflow passenger flow of Baiyun Airport, and jointly form an international aviation hub. According to the EIA report, the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang high-speed rail is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of 2024, and the rapid advancement of the T3 traffic hub to Jiangcun West Liaison Line project will open up the passage between the T3 transportation hub and Guangzhou-Zhanjiang high-speed rail.

After the completion of the project, it will also improve the communication channel between the Guangfo core area and Baiyun Airport. In the planning year, passengers from Guangzhou core area can pass through Metro Line 3 and Line 22 to Baiyun Airport, and passengers from Foshan core area can reach Baiyun Airport through the channel of Line 28 and Line 22 or Guangfo West Ring Road. As for the passenger flow in the core area of Guangzhou, Line 3 and Line 22 can basically meet the travel requirements of Baiyun Airport. However, considering that more than 65% of the passenger flow of Baiyun Airport comes from the urban area of Guangzhou, the national railway system connects the urban area with Baiyun Airport to realize the combination of fast and slow channels and diversified functions. In addition, for Foshan area, the project can realize the local airport passenger flow of Foshan West Railway Station and Baiyun Tangxi railway station convenient access to Baiyun airport, and realize the rapid communication between Foshan urban area, Guangzhou urban area and the airport.
