Recently, the construction of the second section of the Lianxin Bridge Rural Bridge in Sierra Leone, designed by PowerChina, started. President Bio and his wife once again attended the groundbreaking ceremony. As an important livelihood project of the country, President Bio hopes that the bridge will be completed at an early date to benefit people on both sides of the strait.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, President Bio said that the rural bridge project is an important livelihood project of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and is a key project of Moyamba and Bo City on both sides of the June River. The government of Sierra Leone will provide necessary assistance for the construction of the project, and hopes that all parties involved in the project will cooperate sincerely, actively promote the implementation of the project, jointly complete the implementation of the project with high quality, and benefit the people on both sides of the Strait at an early date.

For a long time, the people on both sides of the Qiong River can only rely on the existing manual cable ferries and small wooden boats, and the transportation mode is single and extremely inconvenient, especially when the rainy season comes, the Qiong River water surges and the current is swift, and the local residents are more difficult to travel.

After the completion of Section 2 of the bridge, it will connect Bo City and Moyamba District in southwest Sierra Leone, greatly reducing the travel time between the two places and ensuring the safety of local people's transportation, which is of great significance to the travel of local people. At the same time, it can effectively promote the development of market and community exchanges between the two places, provide convenient conditions for the improvement of local agriculture, education, health and social services, and help local social and economic prosperity.

Prior to this, President Bio also attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the third section of the rural bridge design and construction project, which fully reflects the importance and expectations of Sierra Leone's national leaders for the rural bridge project.

Located in West Africa, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Sierra Leone enjoys excellent natural conditions, but its overall level of infrastructure remains low. On April 3, the ninth Hydropower Bureau of PowerChina officially signed the section 2 and 3 of the rural bridge design and construction project with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Sierra Leone through joint venture. Among them, Section 2 of the project is located in Matruchon Ferry in the State District of the southwest of the country, and Section 3 is located in the Godema ferry in Kenema District of the southeast of the country.
