CSCEC actively implements the concept of the Belt and Road in Sri Lanka, relies on the Southern Sri Lanka high-speed extension Line project, fulfills its social responsibility, improves the living standards of local residents, shares the development results, and actively contributes to the Belt and Road Initiative.

Job creation

In Sri Lanka, where there are few jobs, many young people are moving abroad for work, Sudas is one of them. Soudas, a former soldier, went abroad to work in Doha for nine years after failing to find a suitable job at home. He recalled that in Doha, the monthly salary was about 45,000 rupees, but because of the distance from home, life was difficult. With the launch of the high-speed extension project in southern Sri Lanka, he joined CSCEC as a territorial driver, working less than 1km from home and earning more than Rs 55,000 a month, with overtime. Sudas, who is 40 years old, is very satisfied, and he often says to his friends around him: Life will get better and better! CSCEC and Sri Lankan residents have worked together to build a road to prosperity.

In Sri Lanka, more than 210 local managers and more than 3,150 territorial workers work for CSCEC, all of whom have increased their incomes and improved their lives, many of whom have bought motorcycles and some of whom have acquired cars. They all say that life is getting more and more hopeful. In addition, CSCEC has also promoted the common development of Sri Lanka's construction, materials, transportation, labor and other related industries, established good cooperative relations with many local enterprises, and promoted more than 20,000 jobs in related industries.

Focus on skills training

Sri Lanka takes agricultural cultivation as the main industry, and most residents have low awareness of production safety and occupational skills, such as not being accustomed to wearing shoes at work. After learning about the relevant situation, CSCEC Sri Lanka South high-speed extension Line project in Hambantota area specially built an area of 2000 square meters of vocational skills and safety training demonstration base, set up 12 safety experience projects and 6 vocational training projects, which is also the first construction industry training base built by enterprises in Sri Lanka. While participating in production, local residents received training, and many residents passed the training assessment and obtained the vocational skills certificate issued by CSCEC.

For the local managers, the project encourages them to have the courage to practice their own ideas and constantly improve their technical and management level in specific work. In addition, the project selects excellent employees to observe and learn from domestic projects and headquarters every year to broaden their horizons. As one of the many excellent Sri Lankan employees in the project, Narin returned to Sri Lanka after completing the training exchange in China. He told everyone he met that he was deeply impressed by China's development and rapid development. He used his own experience to encourage everyone to work hard, improve their level, and strive for the opportunity to study and exchange abroad.

To carry out public welfare

The importance of public welfare is a deep impression of Sri Lankan residents on CSCEC, because where the CSCEC projects are built, the help for the needy people extends to where. CSCEC has set up the Building Dreams Ceylon Youth Volunteer Service Team, which has carried out nearly 20 public welfare activities since 2020 and donated more than 2 million rupees, benefiting more than 1,000 people including the elderly, school teachers and students, the disaffected and the disabled around the project, effectively helping the local community to expand the space of happiness. It shows the responsible and responsible brand image of CSCEC.

On December 27, 2022, in the face of Sri Lanka's economic crisis, the volunteer service team of CSCEC came to Maledanke Devore Village, North Central Province, Sri Lanka, to carry out the theme activity of lighting up life and building happiness, and donated daily supplies to more than 100 villagers to help poor villagers cope with the power failure of the channel. He also donated a batch of recreational and sports supplies to the teachers and students of the Ehalaka Gama Primary School in the village. In addition to daily necessities such as rice and cooking oil, the donations also included a batch of solar lamps imported from China to solve the problem of frequent power outages in the region. We were so touched to receive such great help before the New Year. Said villager Gayan Maduranga.

In a letter of thanks sent to CSCEC, Khandami, an official of the Sri Lanka Road Development Agency and the representative of the owner of the Southern high-speed extension line project, expressed his appreciation for the excellent performance and perfect performance of the project team in the construction process, and expressed deep gratitude to everyone for actively fulfilling their social responsibilities and serving the local community during the construction process.Editor/Ma Xue
