On June 7, 2023, the reporter from Dao.com learned from the website of Pingliang Development and Reform Commission that the environmental impact assessment information of the capacity expansion and reconstruction project of the reconstructed Zhongwei Pingliang Railway has been released for the first time. The project is accelerating the preliminary work related to the preliminary design approval, and is expected to officially start construction within the year.

This project has been included in the national plan for the new construction of railway projects in 2023. After the project is completed, the intercity train from Yinchuan to Guyuan via Zhongning will be operated.

Project Overview

The project is located in Pingliang City, Gansu Province, Guyuan City, Wuzhong City and Zhongwei, Ningxia, and consists of the construction of additional second line and reconstruction of existing lines.

The additional second line project is led out from Pingliang South Station of Baoji–Zhongwei railway and passes through Kongtong District of Pingliang City, Jingyuan County, Pengyang County, Yuanzhou District of Guyuan, Haiyuan County of Zhongwei, Tongxin County of Wuzhong City and Zhongning County of Zhongwei. The total length of the main line of the additional second line is 259.29km, including 42.91km in Gansu Province and 216.38km in Ningxia.
