On June 13, 2023, Senegalese Prime Minister Amadou Ba and his delegation visited the Dakar Rapid Transit (BRT) project under construction by the company. Accompanied by Antoine Diome, Minister of the Interior of Senegal, and Mansour FAYE, Minister of Infrastructure Land Transport and Regional Transport Improvement
Amadou Ba and his delegation visited the BRT operation and maintenance base, Gaidiyave station, and the construction site of the transfer hub to gain a detailed understanding of the project's progress, and were interviewed by media reporters.
Amadou Ba stressed that the BRT project is the most advanced and modern transportation system in the world today, which can effectively alleviate the traffic congestion in the capital Dakar, greatly facilitate the travel of residents, and 300000 citizens will benefit directly from it. Infrastructure is crucial for the revitalization and development of Senegal, and the BRT project is a successful one that requires joint maintenance and support from everyone. He stated that the government will establish a mobile police force to better protect the safety of passengers, buses, and BRT related infrastructure. We hope that relevant government departments, participating parties, and operators can take strong measures to ensure delivery in the last quarter of 2023.
The BRT project was commenced in November 2019, with a total length of 18.3 km, 23 closed bus stations and 3 hub Interchange station. This project is Senegal's first rapid transit project and one of the key projects of the revitalization plan for Senegal. This project will significantly improve the comfort, safety, and standardization of transportation in Dakar City, effectively alleviating the current severe congestion situation. Editor/Wang Yan
