On June 12, 2023, the 330 kV switchyard project of Yangqu Hydropower Station in Xinghai County, Hainan, Qinghai Province has officially started.
The project is located in the newly built Yangqu Hydropower Station in Xinghai County, Qinghai Province. It is a key project in Qinghai Province, and also an important supporting power supply for ultra-high voltage transmission from the 10 million Kilopower new energy base in Hainan. All the civil engineering and mechanical and electrical installation engineering construction work within the construction of the switchyard are planned to be ready for operation by the end of April 2024. This project is an important supporting project for the Yangqu Hydropower Station on the Yellow River. After completion, it can fully ensure the safe operation of the long-distance high-voltage transmission line of the Yangqu Hydropower Station, improve the stability of the power grid operation, and reduce the scope of the impact of line faults.
After the project is put into operation, it can save 1.467 million tons of standard coal consumption per year, reduce 4.412 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 385.8 tons of carbon monoxide emissions, approximately 16956 tons of nitrogen dioxide emissions, and 19846 tons of harmful substances such as smoke and dust. The energy-saving and emission reduction benefits are significant. At the same time, the Yangqu Hydropower Station will support the full load operation of the Qingyu DC ultra-high voltage transmission channel, delivering over 40 billion kilowatt hours of green electricity annually to the Central Plains region.
