Recently, Power Construction Corporation of China's UAE wind power demonstration project received the International Safety Excellence Cup from the British Security Council, marking that Power Construction Corporation of China's UAE wind power demonstration project stood out from nearly a thousand projects around the world and won the highest level award of the 2023 International Safety Award - Excellence Award.

Project Overview

The UAE wind power demonstration project, developed by Masdar, is the first demonstration wind power project implemented by Power Construction Corporation of China in the UAE, which is of great pioneering and symbolic significance in the UAE and even the entire Gulf region. The total installed capacity of the project is 117.5MW, consisting of 23 GW-155 models of 4.5MW wind turbines and 14MW photovoltaic systems.

Among them, 23 wind turbines are distributed at four sites of the project, Sir Bani Yas Island, Delma Island, Sila, and Al Halah. The terrain includes islands and mountains, and the construction site is scattered. The transportation of large wind turbine equipment not only needs to overcome difficulties such as dredging of sea shipping channels and pier rectification, but also needs to overcome problems such as steep mountain terrain and large slopes, with high risk coefficient and high management difficulty. At the same time, local governments, owners, supervisors, and others also have high standards for project HSE management.

For this reason, since the commencement of the project, Power Construction Corporation of China has strictly controlled the entry audit of personnel and equipment, strengthened the management of hazardous work permit, safety technical disclosure, hidden danger investigation and treatment, emergency drill and other work, fully implemented the safety production responsibility of all staff, and constantly improved the level of safety control. It has been highly recognized by the local government, the owner, and the supervisor for many times. At present, it has achieved the record of 1 million safe man hours for the project.Editor/Ma Xue
