The year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. In the past decade, China and countries along the Belt and Road have achieved common prosperity. Mongolia's first Chinese-designed and built highway, with a total length of 32.226 km, connecting the capital Ulaanbaatar's new international airport, began construction in 2016 and was fully opened to traffic in 2019.

The highway is a two-way, six-lane highway with a design speed of 80 km/h, reducing the driving time from 90 minutes to 40 minutes. At the same time, the construction of the airport expressway draws on the construction experience of the domestic plateau highway and is resistant to high temperature and cold, which is a landmark project implemented by China's Belt and Road construction in Mongolia.
