On June 26, 2023, the opening ceremony of China Minmetals Corporation's Chentaigou Iron Mine Project was held in Anshan, Liaoning. Liaoning is an important industrial base, steel base, and resource base in China, as well as an investment hub, industrial hub, and strategic highland laid out by China Minmetals Corporation. The two sides have conducted long-term and extensive cooperation in multiple fields. The construction of the Chentaigou iron ore project is a significant achievement in deepening the implementation of the strategic cooperation agreement between the two sides.

Project Overview

The Chentaigou Iron Mine Project has a total investment of over 10 billion yuan, with a design production scale of 11 million tons/year and an iron concentrate output of 4.7 million tons/year. It is the first ultra deep and ultra large scale mining double super mine in China. The commencement of this project is of great significance for implementing national strategies, promoting high-quality development in Liaoning, and supporting China Minmetals Corporation to become stronger, better, and larger in its main business. China Minmetals Corporation will fully implement the new development concept, with the goal of high-end, intelligent, green, and safe new modern mines. It will carry out high standard design, high-quality construction, and efficient construction of the Chentaigou Iron Mine project, jointly creating a benchmark model for cooperation between central enterprises and local governments.

Chentaigou Iron Ore Reserve of China Minmetals Corporation is more than 1 billion tons. It is a super large underground mine with a thousand meters deep well and an annual output of ten million tons. It has a regular occurrence pattern and is suitable for large-scale mining. It is a high-quality resource in the domestic iron ore mountains. It has been successively included in the project of Anshan City to promote high-quality industrial development and accelerate the promotion of key projects in Liaoning Province. Minmetals Mining, affiliated to China Minmetals Corporation, is responsible for the development, construction and operation. The joint development method of vertical shaft, belt inclined shaft, and auxiliary inclined slope adopted by it has pioneered the use of belt transportation in domestic metallurgical mines with a vertical depth of over one kilometer, solving the problem of increasing the volume of ore transportation in kilometer deep wells, and greatly improving the energy consumption utilization rate of ore improvement.

After the project is put into operation, the labor efficiency of all mining personnel will be close to the industry's best, and the labor efficiency of all beneficiation personnel will be in a leading position in the industry. The total product cost and iron concentrate manufacturing cost are both lower than the industry average, and it is expected to create more than 3000 new employment positions, effectively promoting the economic development of Anshan region and assisting the comprehensive revitalization of Liaoning.Editor/Ma Xue
