Pumped storage is an important way for countries around the world to ensure the safe and stable operation of their power systems. On June 27-29, 2023, the feasibility study report review meeting of Jianghuawan Water Source Pumped-storage hydroelectricity in Changsha was held. After full discussion and deliberation by the expert group, the report was unanimously approved.
At the meeting, the participating experts and representatives listened to the report of the Central South Survey, Design and Research Institute of Power Construction Corporation of China Group on the results of the feasibility stage of the Jianghuawan Water Source Pumped-storage hydroelectricity, and introduced 18 aspects of the project tasks and construction necessity, informatization digitization and economic evaluation. The expert group discussed and studied 10 groups, including planning hydrology, reservoir resettlement, environmental protection and water conservation, and investment estimation, and reached a consensus.
Wanyuan Pumped-storage hydroelectricity is a key implementation project of the National Energy Administration's "14th Five Year" Pumped Storage Plan. The power station is located in Xiangjiang Township, Jianghua Yao Autonomous County. The installed capacity of the power station is 1400MW. After completion, the annual power generation will be 1.58 billion kWh, 527000 tons of standard coal can be saved, and the total investment will exceed 9 billion yuan.
The construction of the power station is conducive to the sustainable development of energy resources in Hunan Province, promoting the development and consumption of renewable Energy development in the province, meeting the needs of rapid economic development and power demand growth in the province, and playing an important role in achieving the national "double carbon" strategic goal and the sustainable socio-economic development of the province.
