On June 30, 2023, Shanghai Electric New Energy Development Co., Ltd. and the People's Government of Taonan City, Jilin Province signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the integration project of wind power coupling biomass to green methanol in Taonan City.

Project Overview

The project will transform wind energy resources into electric energy. Through the coupling of Electrolysed water hydrogen production and biomass gasification, green hydrogen will produce green methanol. The project will become the green methanol project with the largest single capacity in Jilin Province and the first biomass gasification to produce green methanol project in northeast China. The construction of the project will play a leading and exemplary role. The developed wind power energy will be used for Electrolysed water hydrogen production and green hydrogen to produce methanol. After the completion of the project, It will become a green new energy+green chemical industry chain project that achieves spontaneous self use, mild grid connection, and on-site consumption of new energy.

It is understood that this project was included in the implementation plan of Jilin Province's Hydrogen Action Jilin last year, which will assist in the high-quality development of Jilin Province's One Main, Six Double, and empower the construction of the Three Gorges on land in western Jilin Province.
