On July 11, 2023, the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and a series of meetings were held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, as the rotating presidency. Foreign ministers and government officials from ASEAN countries jointly attended to exchange and communicate on regional and international hotspot issues, emphasizing the centrality of ASEAN and working together for regional peace, stability, development and prosperity.

In addition to the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, several meetings will be held during the meeting, including bilateral and multilateral meetings between ASEAN and dialogue partners, the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

On July 11, Wang Wenbin, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, said at a regular press conference that the series of foreign ministers' meetings on East Asia cooperation are a platform for enhancing mutual trust and promoting cooperation. China looks forward to building more consensus through this meeting, making political and outcome preparations for the September East Asian Cooperation Leaders' Meeting, and promoting regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

On July 12, when attending the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and a series of meetings in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal signed an agreement on behalf of Saudi Arabia to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia with ASEAN. Saudi Arabia became the 51st country to join the treaty. In response, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno said that the accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia shows that Saudi Arabia firmly agrees with ASEAN values and principles, sticks to its commitment to cooperation with ASEAN, and is committed to contributing to peace and stability in Southeast Asia.Editor/Ma Xue
