Located in the southwest Pacific Ocean, the Solomon Islands is known as the Island of Happiness. The more than 900 large and small islands of the Solomon Islands are embraced by the sea and boast spectacular natural landscapes, rich natural resources and a unique cultural heritage.
Since the two countries formally established diplomatic ties in September 2019, the development of bilateral relations has accelerated, becoming a model of solidarity, cooperation and joint development for countries of different sizes and developing countries. Four years later, Solomon Islands Prime Minister Sogavare visited China again and jointly announced with China the formal establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership featuring mutual respect and common development in the new era.
In an exclusive interview, Solomon Islands Prime Minister Sogavare said that Solomon Islands signed the Belt and Road cooperation agreement with China in 2019, and now it has seen results, which indicates a better future, Solomon Islands is looking forward to improving the level of development through cooperation with China, and effectively implementing the Solomon Islands National Development Strategy (2016-2035).
