On July 13, 2023, the signing ceremony of the main civil engineering construction contract of Anhui Shitai Pumped-storage hydroelectricity was held in Chengdu. The relevant leaders and representatives of the Three Gorges Construction Engineering, Three Gorges Development, Eighth Hydroelectric Bureau, and Anneng First Bureau attended the signing ceremony.

Anhui Shitai pumped storage is a key implementation project of the national "Medium and Long Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage Energy (2021-2025)" during the 14th Five Year Plan period. It is the first pumped storage project invested and constructed by Three Gorges Group in Anhui Province. The construction of Shitai pumped storage is a symbol of the Three Gorges Group's hydropower development capacity and another lever to help achieve the dual carbon goal. As the core force of the hydropower development and construction business sector of the Three Gorges Group, Three Gorges Construction will adhere to the spirit of excellence, courage to climb new heights, and selfless dedication, and strive to build high-quality, high-quality, and high-level Shitai pumping and storage projects, striving to create high-quality projects, demonstration projects, and benchmark projects.

The project is located in Xianyu Town and Dingxiang Town of Shitai County and invested by Anhui Shitai Pumped Storage Co., Ltd. The total dynamic investment of the project is 7.8946 billion yuan, the total installed capacity is 1.2 million kilowatts, and four reversible water turbine generator units with a single unit capacity of 300000 kilowatts are installed, which is a pure Pumped-storage hydroelectricity for daily regulation. The power station hub project mainly consists of an upper reservoir, a lower reservoir, a water conveyance system, an underground powerhouse, and a ground switch station.

After completion, the power station will mainly supply power to Anhui power grid, and undertake tasks such as peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency standby of Anhui power grid.
