On July 17, 2023, the "Survey and Design Bidding Announcement for the Speed-up and Renovation Project of the Daxi High Speed Railway" was officially released, officially launching preliminary work such as feasibility study and preliminary design. The Daxi High Speed Railway will become another high-speed railway renovation project with an operating speed of 250 kilometers per hour, following the Guiguang High Speed Railway.

Project Overview

This project is located in Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces, with a current maximum operating speed of 250km/h. In order to promote regional socio-economic development and fully leverage the economic benefits of high-speed rail; Improve the regional road network and match channel positioning; The need to meet market demand, enhance railway competitiveness, and increase railway market share; We are now carrying out speed up renovation on this line. The project renovation covers a total length of 686.9km from the original Pingxi to the north of Xi'an.

Scope and content of bidding: Survey and design during the pre feasibility study, feasibility study, preliminary design, and construction drawing design stages of the speed increase and renovation project of the Daxi High Speed Railway.

Section division

This bidding is divided into 2 sections:

DXTSSJ-1, covering the survey and design of the speed increase reconstruction of the original Pingxi Yuncheng North railway station (including) section, is responsible for the overall survey and design of the whole line.

DXTSSJ-2, covering the survey and design of speed increase reconstruction from Yuncheng North railway station to Xi'an North railway station.

Daxi High speed Railway is an important part of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway corridor Beijing–Kunming corridor and Hu'nan Corridor. The section from Taiyuan to Xi'an was opened and operated in July 2014, and the section from Yuanping West to Taiyuan was opened and operated in September 2018; The Datong to Yuanping section is accelerating construction and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The original design speed of the Yuanping to Xi'an section of the Daxi high-speed railway was 250km/h, with a maximum operating speed of 250km/h.

In addition to the Taiyuan hub, further acceleration conditions have been reserved for the infrastructure: the distance between the main lines is 5.0m, and the 350km/h standard is adopted for the horizontal and vertical sections of the line, the main line, bridges, tunnels, and the underground infrastructure of the station. Since the opening of the project, it has been in good operating condition and meets the conditions for speed increase.

According to the preliminary plan research, after comparing the two speed increase plans of 300km/h and 350km/h, it is proposed to adopt a 300km/h speed increase plan with small renovation projects, reasonable economy, obvious time saving effects, and strong feasibility for implementation.

This plan only needs to adjust the superelevation through track fasteners, upgrade and strengthen the engineering, electrical, and power supply systems, and upgrade the train control system to CTCS-3 level.

At present, the fastest running time of direct trains from Taiyuan South to Xi'an North is 2 hours and 56 minutes. After the maximum running speed of the line is increased to 300km/h, the running time of direct trains can be reduced by about 40 minutes compared to the current situation. Editor/Zhao E
