On July 16, 2023, Canadian Solar announced that it plans to invest in the construction of a photovoltaic new energy full industry chain project in Hohhot. This expansion is a "one-stop" approach, and the project construction almost covers most of the links in the photovoltaic industry chain, including upstream industrial silicon and polycrystalline silicon links, all the way to midstream photovoltaic modules, and even includes core auxiliary materials such as crucibles in the crystallization process.
According to the announcement, Canadian Solar, the Hohhot Municipal People's Government and the Management Committee of Hohhot Economic and Technological Development Zone recently signed the Cooperation Agreement on the Investment in the Whole PV New Energy Industry Chain Project, and reached a cooperation intention on the company's investment in the construction of the whole PV new energy industry chain project in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia.
The overall plan of the project is divided into three phases, among which the first phase includes an annual production of 30GW single crystal rod pulling project, 80GW crucible project, 10GW single crystal slicing project, 10GW solar cell project, 5GW photovoltaic module project, and 5GW related supporting product project; The second phase includes an annual production of 25GW single crystal rod pulling project, 5GW single crystal slicing project, 5GW solar cell project, 5GW photovoltaic module project, and 5GW related supporting product project; The third phase includes an annual production of 25GW single crystal rod pulling project, 5GW single crystal slicing project, 5GW solar cell project, 120000 tons of industrial silicon project, and 100000 tons of polycrystalline silicon project.
The total investment of the first phase of the project is about 18 billion yuan, and the fixed assets investment is about 13 billion yuan. According to the plan, the first phase of the single crystal rod pulling project will commence construction in March 2023 and is scheduled to reach production in April 2024; The construction of other projects in Phase I will commence in March 2023, and it is planned to reach production in April 2024. The second and third phase projects will be separately negotiated and determined based on the implementation of the first phase project and the demand of the photovoltaic market. Editor/Zhao E
