In order to promote greater participation of the private sector in the mining industry, Saudi Arabia issued 34 new licenses in May as the industry continues to grow under the Vision 2030 Economic Diversification Plan. According to data from the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the licenses include 20 exploration licenses, followed by 13 construction materials industries. It also issued a mining and small-scale mining license.

Previously, the Ministry issued 55 licenses in April, which is higher than the 27 licenses issued in March and the 18 licenses issued in February. The report states that the current total number of licenses in the mining industry is 2365, including 1475 construction material quarry licenses and 644 exploration licenses. This also includes mining and small-scale mining, with 182 licenses held and 36 licenses used for reconnaissance activities.
The total number of licenses issued by the department also includes 28 licenses for the remaining mineral ores. Regionally, Riyadh ranks first in obtaining the highest number of mining licenses, with 587 licenses, followed by Mecca with 384. The Eastern Province received 376 permits, while Medina received 264 permits. The Ministry further reported that Asir issued 214 permits in May, 154 in Tabuk, 89 in Kasim, 81 in Jizan, and 69 in hail. On the other hand, Najiran issued 54 licenses, while Baha issued 39. 27 copies were issued respectively by the Northern Border and Jiaofu.
