On July 20, 2023, it was learned that recently, the Yihuatong wind and hydrogen integrated source network load storage comprehensive demonstration project (Phase I) was approved by the Hebei Development and Reform Commission, and the project was implemented by Yihuatong wholly-owned subsidiary Guochuang Hebei Hydrogen Energy Industry Innovation Center Co., Ltd. in Zhangbei County, Zhangjiakou City.
This project will make use of the abundant wind energy resources in Zhangjiakou City and build a new integrated process of hydrogen production from renewable energy based on the consumption technology of renewable energy driven by load and source, so as to achieve large-scale local consumption of renewable energy. The project plans to build 200,000 kW wind power, 240,000 sq. / h hydrogen production station, supporting hydrogen storage devices and 40 MW hydrogen fuel cell power generation system. 80% of the project's wind power is used for green hydrogen production, with an annual output of about 10,000 tons of green hydrogen. Supporting hydrogen energy storage system can realize long-term and seasonal energy storage. The project basically realizes independent peak regulation and self-absorption, does not increase the peak regulation pressure of the power grid system, and improves the friendliness of the power system.
If 10,000 tons of green hydrogen is used in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, it is expected to support 1,750 medium and heavy trucks of more than 18 tons, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 117,500 tons/year compared with diesel vehicles. If used for pure hydrogen metallurgy, it is expected to support 100,000 tons of hydrogen metallurgy projects, reducing carbon dioxide emissions of about 347,400 tons/year; If used for green synthetic ammonia, it is expected to produce about 60,000 tons of green synthetic ammonia per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 145,400 tons per year. The project opens up a new chain of renewable energy-green hydrogen-low-carbon application, explores a new model of green economic development driven by green electricity and green hydrogen, and helps the practice of dual-carbon strategy.
While overcoming many problems such as technology and engineering implementation, this project effectively reduces the cost of green electricity and green hydrogen, improves the market competitiveness of terminal products, and is expected to provide certain experience for the road to green hydrogen parity in China.
