Recently, the 84 kilometer project of the eastern section of the Algeria East West Expressway, undertaken by China CITIC Construction Co., Ltd., has entered the preparatory stage for its opening to traffic.

The total length of Algeria's East West Expressway is 1216 kilometers, connecting 17 provinces in Algeria. After the completion of the 84 kilometer project, the entire east-west expressway will be opened to traffic, with significant socio-economic impacts.

Due to the complex terrain and geological conditions, the 84 kilometer project is renowned for its high difficulty and cost. In Europe, a roadbed with a filling height greater than 5 meters is called high fill, and the highest fill in this section reaches 44.7 meters. In addition, the local filler contains Marl, which is stone, eolian soil and hydrated mud during excavation. This is a disaster for subgrade construction.

Qi Shujie, Deputy General Manager of CITIC Construction Algeria, introduced that in addition to building roads, the company is also actively fulfilling its social responsibilities in the local area. We have jointly funded the construction of a large project management college and a national quality control center with China Railway Construction Consortium, cultivating over 16000 Algerian infrastructure technicians and providing opportunities for many local engineers to study in China.
