The Brazilian state of Minas Gerais is planning the bidding process for BR-381/MG highway. The tender is handled by the Government of Minas Gerais State. The winner of the 30 year concession will be announced by the end of 2023. This work is estimated to cost $1.98 billion on this route. The franchise package has been approved by the Brazilian National Land Transport Authority.
This section of BR-381 connects the cities of Belo Horizonte and Governor Valladarez. The project will involve widening the route, constructing additional lanes along a 134 kilometer section, as well as branch roads, pedestrian crossings, bus stops, wildlife intersections, and route changes. The safety improvements that the upgrade work will bring should also help reduce the incidence of car accidents and reduce the number of casualties on the route.
As the representative of the largest emerging economy in the Western Hemisphere, Brazil is among the top countries globally in terms of population and land area. The total length of Brazilian roads is 1.72 million kilometers, responsible for over two-thirds of the country's cargo transportation volume, including 219000 kilometers of asphalt roads and approximately 14000 kilometers of highways. Brazil and neighboring countries have basically achieved road connectivity, but some road conditions need to be improved.Editor/XingWentao
