The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthening cooperation on jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt and officially launched bilateral free trade negotiations, adding tangible content to the cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the Belt and Road.

Garibashvili spoke highly of China's Belt and Road Initiative, calling it very important. He said that the initiative is a rare opportunity for all countries along the routes. He also pointed out that both Georgia and China have a long history and culture, and the two peoples have deep feelings for each other.
