SSE Renewables, a renewable energy subsidiary of Scottish energy company SSE, has started building a 31MW Littleton Pastures solar project near Evesham Town in Worcestershire, UK. SSE Renewables' solar and battery department has selected Spanish construction company Grupotec as the civil contractor for the project.

The 77 acre site has now started construction, and the solar project is expected to begin operation in 2024. The project will generate sufficient clean energy to power 9400 households. Stark Energy, a clean energy developer based in Liverpool, initially promoted the project, which was acquired by the Shanghai Stock Exchange in January 2022 for an undisclosed amount.

Richard Cave Bigley, Director of Solar and Battery at SSE Renewables, stated that I am pleased that we have now entered the construction phase of our first solar project in Littleton Pastures and are collaborating with our partner Grupotec.

Connecting more renewable energy to the grid is crucial for the UK's energy security and net zero goals. We look forward to delivering more solar and battery projects in the UK, Ireland, and Europe in the coming years.

These projects will be fully funded under a £ 18 billion five-year investment plan until 2027. The company will also create over 1000 new job positions every year.

Grupotec Vice President C é sar Moreyra stated that we are delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate on this exciting renewable energy project at Littleton Pastures. The construction of this solar facility is an important step towards creating a more sustainable future, and we are proud to participate in its construction.Editor/XingWentao
