The Saudi Development Fund has signed a loan agreement with the Belize government to build a 60MW solar power plant in Central American countries. In addition to building a solar power plant, the $77 million loan agreement will also see SFD supply and installation of solar panels.
SFD CEO Sultan Al Marshad stated that today's agreement marks an important step forward in the existing development cooperation between the two countries. This project reflects SFD's emphasis on mitigating climate change through intelligent and environmentally friendly projects. SFD stated that the agreement is part of its efforts to support sustainable development in developing countries and small island developing States.
The Prime Minister of Belize, John Brissenio, stated that the agreement is in line with the country's energy policy focused on renewable energy. John Brice ñ o said that this has brought many benefits to Belize, including clean energy, cost savings, energy independence, environmental sustainability, job creation, and improved electricity supply to rural communities.
