Recently, CNOOC Uganda and two local vocational schools in Uganda held a completion ceremony for welder vocational skills training in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. 160 young Ugandan welder trainees received qualification certificates issued by the Minister of State of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Lokylis. Officials from the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Sports, representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Uganda, and Ma Peixin, Vice President of CNOOC Uganda, attended the ceremony.

This training lasted for over two months, and 160 students worked hard to learn theoretical knowledge and practical operations in six levels of welder training organized by CNOOC. Eventually, they proficiently mastered the relevant skills of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). The trained Ugandan youth Naga thanks CNOOC for providing training opportunities for young people. He said, "I am now able to participate in the construction of the national petroleum industry with the skills I have learned, which is very gratifying

In his speech at the ceremony, the Minister of State of the Ministry of Mines of Ukraine, Luo Kairis, highly praised the various skills training projects carried out by CNOOC in Uganda. He said, "CNOOC not only drives Uganda's economic and social development through a large amount of investment, but also attaches great importance to the use of localized resources and talent cultivation." He expressed the hope that CNOOC can cultivate more skilled talents for Uganda and help it achieve prosperity and development.

Ma Peixin stated that welder skill training is another important achievement of CNOOC's "Dream Building Silk Road" job creation and empowerment project. As of now, the company has trained 340 welders and over 3000 oil and gas skilled talents for Uganda. He said that enterprises will continue to carry out high-quality localization and social responsibility projects in Ukraine, and make greater contributions to the construction of the the Belt and Road and deepening China Uzbekistan friendship with CNOOC action.

According to reports, as the largest Chinese invested enterprise in Uganda, since entering Uganda in 2011, the company has actively fulfilled its social responsibilities and organized a series of livelihood projects such as cliff crossing roads, water diversion projects, and resettlement houses, which have won widespread praise from the Ukrainian government and the public.Editor/Ma Xue
