Recently, with a group of light rail red line train sets departing from north to south, the history of Israel's economic center without light rail has come to an end. The sound of train operation echoes in the dawn sky, providing a new travel experience for millions of Israelis in the light rail covered area.

Project Overview

The Tel Aviv Light Rail Project is divided into red line, green line, purple line, and other lines. The fastest developing red line has a total length of about 24 kilometers, connecting Tel Aviv and several satellite cities under its jurisdiction. There are a total of 34 stations along the way, including 24 ground stations and 10 underground stations. The Israeli Ministry of Transport and Road Safety estimates that the red line transports approximately 234000 passengers per day.

At the launch ceremony, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu used a "holiday" to describe the opening of the light rail red line and praised its role in promoting connectivity in the Tel Aviv region and the entire country. The Minister of Transport and Road Safety, Miri Regev, said that the opening of the light rail was a historic moment in Tel Aviv, ushering in a new era for the entire city.

Many passengers excitedly told reporters that they did not have a clear destination and only wanted to check in on the first day of the light rail opening. Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai told the media that on the first day of the opening of the Red Line, approximately 100000 Israelis from all over the country took the light rail train.

I have been on business trips to China for several months and have personally experienced the well-developed rail transit in many cities. Thank you to China for bringing our experience here and making our lives more convenient. Leon, a citizen working in the high-tech industry in Tel Aviv, said.

Haim Glick, CEO of the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Public Transport System Company, stated in an interview with reporters that Tel Aviv and its surrounding areas are the most economically dynamic areas in Israel, with a large population and severe congestion. The opening of light rail will greatly improve people's travel efficiency, change single modes of travel, and further promote personnel and commercial exchanges between urban agglomerations.

Chinese builders are diligent, efficient, and trustworthy, which is truly admirable. They have also made many localization adjustments in construction and operation, promoting exchanges and mutual learning within the industry. Glick said.

Entering the bright and tidy carriages, you can see the obvious words "Made in China" and the logo of CRRC Changchun Rail Transit Co., Ltd. - the red traditional Chinese characters. All trains on the Tel Aviv Light Rail Red Line are provided by this Chinese company.

The joint venture of China Railway Tunnel Bureau and Electrification Bureau, affiliated with China Railway Corporation, undertook the construction of a 12 kilometer tunnel in the western section of the civil engineering bid, as well as the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of 39 electrical systems for the entire 24 kilometer line. China Civil Engineering Group participated in the construction of the eastern section of the civil engineering bid and multiple station projects, and formed a consortium with Shenzhen Metro and local partners in Israel, responsible for the 14 year franchise work of the red line.

According to Liu Yuanlue, the person in charge of the Tel Aviv Light Rail Red Line Project of China Railway Tunnel Bureau - China Railway Electrification Bureau, this project is China Railway's first dual European standard design and construction project in the overseas high-end market, and also the first developed country light rail project undertaken by a Chinese enterprise.

Kang Wei, General Manager of China Israel Branch and President of the Israel Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, stated that the Tel Aviv Light Rail Red Line is the first time a Chinese enterprise has won an urban rail transit operation and maintenance project in a developed country. During the preparation process, China Turkey actively promoted local employment, hiring approximately 500 local employees from multiple job types, and providing professional technical support and talent training services to Israeli operation and maintenance companies. Whether in the process of construction or operation, we are striving to contribute Chinese wisdom and benefit local society.Editor/Ma Xue
