On April 14, 2020, the construction mobilization meeting of Hohhot Baita Airport's transition and transformation project to increase construction area and improve supporting facilities and create a good development platform for the aviation industry was officially held.

It is reported that the upgrade and reconstruction project in this transition period mainly includes the extension of the west terminal corridor of the current terminal building by 348 meters to the west, the expansion area of about 20,000 square meters, the addition of 7 boarding bridges, and the setting of 7 near-air stations (5C2E); Newly build an international terminal building of 8,500 square meters, add two boarding bridges, and set up two E-type near-air stations; build a VIP building of about 3,000 square meters; transform the international process of the current terminal into a domestic process; Supporting the construction of parking lots, roads, plumbing, fire-fighting facilities and other projects, the total project budget is 588 million yuan

After the project is completed, the overall environment of the airport will be improved, the overall quality will be improved, and the supporting facilities will be improved. After being put into use, it will effectively solve the bottleneck of insufficient support resources in Hohhot Airport, and greatly improve the operational support capability and service level of Hohhot Airport.
