This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. At a press conference held by the State New Office on August 25, the relevant responsible person of the Ministry of Commerce said that ASEAN countries are located in the land-sea intersection area of the "Belt and Road" and are key areas for high-quality co-construction of the "Belt and Road". In recent years, China and ASEAN countries have deepened trade, investment, connectivity and regional cooperation, completed a number of landmark projects, and worked together to paint the "meticulous painting" of jointly building the Belt and Road.

The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Commerce said that at present, China is promoting Chinese-style modernization with high-quality development, which will provide new opportunities for ASEAN countries. In the next step, the Ministry of Commerce will expand mutually beneficial cooperation with ASEAN in an all-round way, jointly upgrade the level of economic and trade cooperation, and promote the construction of a closer China-Asean community of shared future.

First, jointly increase the scale of trade. We will strengthen unimpeded trade cooperation under the Belt and Road framework and improve trade facilitation.

Second, jointly promote two-way investment. We will strengthen investment cooperation with ASEAN countries in petrochemical, steel, automobile, textile and other fields to continuously enrich the connotation of China-Asean economic and trade cooperation.

Third, jointly promote connectivity. We will give full play to the exemplary role of landmark projects such as the China-Laos Railway and the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed Railway in Indonesia, and strengthen technology sharing and experience exchange with ASEAN countries.

Fourth, jointly deepen regional cooperation. We will implement the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in a high quality manner and accelerate negotiations on version 3.0 of the China-Asean Free Trade Area. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
