Chinese photovoltaic company Trina Solar began producing 210mm monocrystalline silicon wafers in Vietnam, once again expanding its global business. The first batch of silicon wafers were produced at a factory located 80 kilometers north of Hanoi in Taiyuan City.

The factory can produce 6.5GW of silicon wafers annually. The increase in production capacity has made Trina Solar more versatile in distributing its products globally. On July 31st, the production green light was obtained, and on August 4th, the first 12 inch single crystal silicon rod was manufactured, indicating that the first batch of wafers was about to be produced.
In addition to 6.5GW of silicon wafer production capacity, the new factory also has 4GW of battery production capacity and 5GW of component production capacity. Silicon wafer factories include single crystal drawing, square processing of silicon rods, slicing, and silicon processing. The resulting silicon wafers are mainly used for the production of batteries and components at Trina Solar's factories in Vietnam and Thailand, with the aim of supplying Trina Solar's products to the US market.

Trina Solar's Vertex modules produced outside China play a crucial role in meeting the global demand for photovoltaic modules, which have outstanding power, efficiency, reliability, energy production, and cost-effectiveness. The production of silicon rods and wafers at the Vietnamese factory will ensure the continuous material supply of the company's overseas component production bases.
The Weihua factory in Taiyuan employs 700 local employees. In November 2020, Trina Solar signed a contract with Tianjin Huanuo International Silicon Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Tianjin Zhonghuan Semiconductor, to purchase 210mm single crystal silicon wafers.Editor/XingWentao
