In 2018, China and Dominica signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Dominica on Jointly Promoting the Construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, making Dominica the fourth Caribbean country to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with China on jointly building the Belt and Road.

In the past five years, the two countries have achieved fruitful results under the Belt and Road Initiative. Martin Charles, Dominica's ambassador to China, expressed the hope that more Chinese companies will invest in Dominica in the future and strengthen cooperation between the two sides in the fields of tourism and agriculture. "I hope that in the future, the Belt and Road Initiative will give more countries like Dominica the opportunity to develop at a faster pace." Editor/Xu Shengpeng
