On October 9, 2023, the first phase of the China Tianying Jinta Gravity Energy Storage Project with a capacity of 50MW/200MWh and the first phase of the Gravity Energy Storage Equipment Manufacturing Base officially began construction. The China Tianying Jinta Gravity Energy Storage and Equipment Manufacturing Base project has a total investment of 5.7 billion yuan and is located in Jinta County, Jiuquan, Gansu. The first phase has a scale of 50MW/200MWh, with a total investment of 1.8 billion yuan.

The China Tianying Jinta Gravity Energy Storage and Equipment Manufacturing Base project mainly involves the construction of energy storage systems, power generation systems, transmission systems, control systems, booster stations, and factory buildings, as well as other public and auxiliary facilities. It can not only consume Jinta's wind and green electricity on a large scale, but also utilize abandoned stones from Jinta County to combine gravity energy storage with environmental protection and achieve the resource utilization of waste materials. After completion, it will become the largest gravity energy storage project in China.

The first phase of the gravity energy storage equipment manufacturing project will construct six equipment manufacturing workshops, including a new production line with an annual output of 10000 horizontal mobile cars, 1000 vertical elevator production lines, 1000 pulley car production lines, and 1000 power shaft production lines. It will serve as an equipment manufacturing base for China's Tianying radiating northwest regions such as Gansu, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Ningxia, and Mengxi. The project has now completed project registration work and is expected to be completed and put into operation in August 2025.

The implementation of this project plays a very important exemplary and leading role in expanding and extending the industrial chain, enhancing advantageous industrial clusters, and promoting green transformation and development.
