Recently, Eric Salheim, former Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and Vice President of the the Belt and Road International Alliance for Green Development, said that the the Belt and Road Initiative is promoting global green development from the perspective of infrastructure construction, that is, taking clean energy and green energy construction as the core. For example, the "Salado" solar thermal power plant built by China in Saudi Arabia is a typical project for green energy construction. In the future, the the Belt and Road will serve as a carrier for the development of renewable energy, so that China's green development can promote the green development of the world.

Over the past decade, the the Belt and Road Initiative has achieved great success, lifting millions of people out of poverty and creating a lot of employment opportunities for many developing countries. Solheim said, "The green corridor plays a role in transportation and connectivity, and we hope to further promote the construction of the green corridor in the future." In the future, taking a train from Beijing to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and other places may only take a few hours, and Southeast Asia will achieve true connectivity. If the Mombasa Nairobi Railway can connect Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and other countries with beautiful and incredible natural scenery in the future, it will promote the development of tourism in these countries and improve their economies.

In terms of renewable energy, in many countries along the the Belt and Road Initiative, the energy used is shifting from coal to solar energy, wind energy and hydropower, which is very important.

Solheim said, "China has gained some best practices in environmental protection." In China, the number of animals such as giant pandas, snow leopards, and Tibetan antelopes is increasing, and China is still the country with the largest artificial afforestation area in the world to date. Through dialogue and exchanges, China can bring good practices to other countries along the the Belt and Road. The the Belt and Road Initiative can serve as a carrier for the development of renewable energy. China is now a major trading partner of more than 140 countries and regions. China's green development can promote green development worldwide.

Salheim said that he paid special attention to the content of "promoting green development" and the support measures taken to make the the Belt and Road greener and cleaner. For example, when China builds railways in Africa, it ensures that animals such as elephants and giraffes can safely pass through the railway route without being harmed.
