At the second Sodium Ion Battery Industry Chain and Standard Development Forum held in July this year, Yin Xiaoqiang, General Manager of BYD Energy Storage and New Battery Business Unit, stated that BYD currently has the production capacity of 150Ah blade sodium battery cells, and the 20MWh "Sodium Electric Magic Cabinet System" has been put into trial operation in Nanning Qingxiu Industrial Park.

Yin Xiaoqiang believes that sodium ion batteries with polyanion system have advantages such as long cycle life, low cost, and high safety, and are suitable for large-scale energy storage fields. Layered oxide system sodium ion batteries have advantages such as high energy density, low cost, fast charging, and strong low-temperature performance, making them suitable for A00 or A0 level passenger cars, two wheeled vehicles, and other fields with low range requirements.

Based on this judgment, BYD plans to increase the energy density of layered oxide system sodium ion batteries to 180Wh/kg and achieve 6000 cycles by 2025; The energy density of the sodium ion battery in the polyanion system can reach 150Wh/kg, and the number of cycles can reach 10000, which is on par with the main technical indicators of the lithium iron phosphate battery.
