On June 30, 2024, the highly anticipated Chongqing Three Vertical Line Baishubao Interchange to North Ring Interchange Reconstruction Project ushered in the groundbreaking ceremony of the North Ring Interchange section, marking the full launch of the entire reconstruction project.

The project starts from Baishubao Interchange in the south, passes through the three horizontal lines of the expressway, Longshan Road, Xinnan Road, Inner Ring Expressway and other roads, and ends at the North Ring Interchange, with a total length of 4,260 meters. As an important traffic artery connecting Yubei District, Shapingba District, Jiulongpo District and Beibei District, its reconstruction will have a profound impact on the regional traffic pattern.

As a key part of this reconstruction, the North Ring Interchange section starts from the abutment of the Jincheng Road Widening Bridge and ends at the Yuwu Expressway. This section will adopt the method of widening and reconstruction of the plane main and auxiliary roads. The main line is 1,000 meters long and is designed as a two-way six-lane urban expressway with a speed of 60 kilometers per hour; the total length of the ramp and auxiliary road is 5,593 meters, using the standard of urban secondary trunk lines with a speed of 40 kilometers per hour. During the reconstruction, a total of 11 bridges will be newly built or widened.

It is reported that Chongqing Expressway Juneng Group will use advanced prefabricated assembly technology to build the substructure of the bridge, such as piers and cap beams, while the upper structure will use continuous steel-concrete composite beams and continuous steel box beams to ensure the high quality and efficiency of the project.

In order to ensure smooth traffic during construction, road occupation construction measures will be taken, and traffic signs and signs will be set up, and special personnel will be assigned to effectively guide vehicles to pass and ensure the safety of vehicles during peak hours.

It is expected that the North Ring Interchange Reconstruction Project will be completed in 2027, which will greatly alleviate the traffic pressure on Hongyan Village Bridge and Hongyan Village Tunnel, and provide citizens with a more convenient and efficient travel environment.Editor/Cheng Ting
