On May 13, 2020, the implementation of the key project of the Beijing City Master Plan and the Controlled Detailed Planning of the Urban Sub-center of the East Sixth Ring Road Reconstruction Project has now entered the formal construction stage.

The project has a total length of about 16 kilometers. Starting from April 27, the first ground-to-wall grooving construction will be carried out. The project will widen and transform the current two-way four-lane road into a two-way six-lane road. The layout of the holes is divided into three layers with three lanes. The upper layer is the smoke exhaust channel, the middle layer is the traffic channel, and the lower layer is the evacuation rescue channel.

At the same time, the existing East Sixth Ring Road main road will be built into a high-speed park and transformed into a slow-moving system, integrated with the urban landscape, and become a good place for residents to walk and ride. The project construction period is 4 years. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. After completion, the 11 east-west urban roads between the various groups of the urban sub-center will be connected.

After the completion of the construction of the Beijing East Sixth Ring Road into the ground reconstruction project, it will have a certain relief effect on the traffic pressure of the East Sixth Ring Road.
