On June 11, 2020, China Railway Group announced that the consortium of the company won the bid for the first phase of Changchun City Rail Transit Line 5 with an investment amount of approximately RMB 10,258.176 million. Details are as follows:

The first-phase project of Changchun City Rail Transit Line 5 is a southwest-northeast backbone line, which strengthens the connection between the high-tech industrial development zone and the central city and guides the rational development of the urban pattern of Changchun.

The route runs from south to north along Silicon Valley Avenue, Qianjin Avenue, Yan'an Avenue, Huxi Road, Hongqi Street, Jianzheng Road, and Changchun Avenue. The land along the route is well developed, with densely populated posts, heavy traffic during peak hours, and obvious congestion.

The line starts at the southwest hub station at the intersection of Silicon Valley Avenue and Zhuoyue Avenue, passing through Chaoqiang Street Station, Shunda Road Station, Yueda Road Station, Anxin Road Station, Ulsan Road West Station, Silicon Valley Plaza Station, Silicon Valley Avenue Station, and Prosperity Luxi Station, Nanhu Square Station, Huxi Road Station, Gongnongda Road Station, Culture Square Station, Tongzhi Street Station, People's Square Station, Dajing Road Station, Yatai Street Station, and finally East Bridge Station.

The total length of the line is 19.657km, with a total of 18 stations and 8 interchange stations. Transfer at the west station of Ulsan Road and Yuanjing Airport Line; transfer at the Silicon Valley Plaza Station and Line 6 under construction; at the Silicon Valley Avenue Station and the existing operation Transfer at Line 3; transfer at Nanhu Square Station and planned Line 7; transfer at Huxi Road Station and Yuanjing Shuangyang Line; transfer at Cultural Square Station and already operated Line 2; at People's Square Station and already operated 1 Transfer at Line No.; transfer at Line 4 at Dongdaqiao Station. A Lujiatun depot is set up in the green belt around the city.

The project was led by China Railway Group as the leader in conjunction with China Railway First Bureau, China Railway Second Bureau, China Railway Third Bureau, China Railway Fourth Bureau, China Railway Five Bureau, China Railway Sixth Bureau, China Railway Seventh Bureau, China Railway Tenth Bureau, China Railway Tunnel Bureau and China Railway Electrification Bureau.
