In recent years, Xinjiang has increased the construction of its transportation network, and the passages into and out of Xinjiang have been continuously optimized and speeded up. On June 17, 2020, the participating units of the G331 line Mingshashan-Ulastai secondary road have entered the site and are under construction. The preparation work is planned to start construction in early July.
The G331 line to which the project belongs is the new numbered route in the National Highway Network Planning (2013-2030). The G331 line (Dandong-Altai) is an ordinary national border line. The starting point is located in Dandong City, Liaoning Province, and the ending point is at the Ahei Tubek Port in Habahe County, Altay, Xinjiang.

The project is a section of Changji territory on the G331 line. The starting point of the route is from the newly built S332 line of Santang Lake to Mingsha Mountain in Mulei County. The total length is 129.523 kilometers. Erlian and Beitashan Ranch, the end point is at the junction of Changji Prefecture and Altay Region. Construction is scheduled to start in early July 2020, and will be opened to traffic in October 2021.
The main line of the project is constructed with the standard of second-class highways, with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour, of which the design speed is 60 kilometers per hour through the mountain section of Beita Mountain Ranch.

In 2020, Xinjiang has invested heavily in transportation construction, laying the foundation for the development of tourism and economy. From Mingshashan to Wulastai, there is currently only one Gobi road from coal mine vehicles. After the new road is repaired, the transit time between the two places can be shortened by nearly 2 hours. At the same time, the transportation efficiency of the coal mine can be improved and the local economic development can be promoted. Editor/Zhao Jing
